1.) Point of View This poem is written in a narrative point of view.
2.) Situation and Setting The poem shows the pitiful situation the children are in because of war. This is evident from the line ' will a war consume them ', showing that the children faced the threat of dying from war. The poem takes place at a time where war is about to begin, evident from the line ' who someone will teach to fight '.
3.) Language/Diction The language used in this poem in negative and harsh, as can be seen ' life and blood be poured' and ' back into the darkness '. The author uses words such as ' consume them ' and ' body and soul ' to emphasize the harsh influence of war on the children.
4.) Personal Response I feel that the author is sending an anti-war message, that war causes much destruction to people, and even innocent young children are not spared. Thus, I think that war should be avoided since it cause much destruction to all parties in the war.
